This campsite was previously named Braithwaite Fold and has been changed to Bowness on Windermere. The site will be undergoing a refurbishment during 2021 – please keep an eye on this webpage for when we expect to re-open later in the year.
Camp on the shores of Lake Windermere and explore the southern lakes from this site.
Bowness on Windermere campsite sits on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere in the heart of the beautiful Lake District and, as it’s name suggests, is a stone’s throw from the linked towns of Bowness and Windermere.
Pitch here and you won’t be short of things to do. For starters you can enjoy the many attractions of the lake right from the campsite, have a go at dinghy sailing, power boating or windsurfing. Meet Peter Rabbit and friends at the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere.
Catch the chain ferry to the western shore for the National Trust’s Claife Heights, ideal for walking and cycling, the pretty village of Hawkshead – home to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter once lived – and Grizedale Forest Park with its Go Ape high wire adventure area.
